01Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Sounth mobile application ("App") developed and maintained by Sounth Studio ("we", "us", or "our"). It describes how we handle information when you use Sounth on any supported platform.

02Information We Collect

Sounth is designed as a local-first application. All plant-related data you enter — including plant profiles, care schedules, reminders, journal entries, photos, and notes — is stored exclusively on your device.

Information we do collect:

• Email address — provided when you create an account. Used to identify your account and verify your premium subscription status.
• Subscription status — whether your account has an active premium plan, managed through the App Store or Google Play.

This information is stored securely on our servers and is necessary to unlock premium features (Cloud Auto Backup, Soil Sensor Integration, and Health Scan) across your devices.

We do not collect:

• Your name, phone number, or physical address
• Location data
• Device identifiers or fingerprints
• Your plant data, photos, or journal entries
• Usage analytics or behavioural data
• Crash reports or diagnostics

03How Your Data Is Used

Your email address is used exclusively to:

• Authenticate your account across devices
• Verify and manage your premium subscription status
• Send transactional emails (subscription confirmations, receipts, and policy updates)

We will never use your email for marketing, newsletters, or promotions.

Your plant data is used solely to power the app's features on your device:

• Care Schedules — to generate watering, fertilizing, and custom task reminders
• Plant Milestones & Gallery — to display your growth timeline and photos
• Backup & Restore — to create local backup files that you control
• Health Scan — photo analysis is performed on-device; images are not uploaded

No plant data is ever sent to Sounth's servers. If you enable Cloud Auto Backup (premium), your data is backed up directly to your own Google Drive account — Sounth does not have access to these files.

04Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer your personal data to any third parties. Sounth does not integrate with advertising networks or data brokers.

We may share limited information with the following service providers, solely to operate the app:

• Payment processors (Apple App Store / Google Play) — to process premium subscriptions. We do not store your payment details.
• Cloud infrastructure — your email and subscription status are stored on secure, encrypted servers.

Cloud Auto Backup (premium) stores your plant data directly in your own Google Drive account. Sounth acts only as a conduit to write and read backup files — we do not have access to, store, or process the contents of your backups. Your Google Drive data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

05Data Security

We take security seriously at every level:

• Account data (email, subscription status) — stored on encrypted servers with industry-standard security measures, including TLS in transit and encryption at rest.
• Plant data on your device — protected by your device's own security (passcode, biometric locks, OS-level encryption).
• Cloud backups (if enabled) — stored in your personal Google Drive. Sounth does not have access to these files.

We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a strong passcode. You are responsible for safeguarding any exported backup files.

06Data Retention & Deletion

Plant data persists on your device for as long as the app is installed. Account data (email, subscription status) is retained on our servers for as long as your account is active. You have full control at all times:

• Edit or delete individual records — through the app's interface
• Delete all plant data — by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling
• Delete your account — request account deletion through the app's settings or by emailing us. We will delete your email and subscription data from our servers within 30 days
• Export your data — via the Backup feature before deletion

We retain no copies of your data on any server.

07Children's Privacy

Sounth does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is transmitted to us, there is no risk of inadvertent collection of children's data.

08Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and notify users. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
